The award for style, and the coolest name in Canadian music, could go to Flavio Monopoli. He spent most of the summer winding across Canada with Brit pop rockers the Orchid Highway (www.orchidhighway.com). Many Canadians will remember Flavio's previous band, Velour3, for their single and video 'Not The One'. Flavio has just completed work on his pet project, aptly named The Elusive Project X. Written and produced in collaboration with Brent Calkin, the CD features vocalist Shaye Martirano (Tara MacLean's sister) and is due for a fall release. Incidentally, Flavio is the only other drummer I've met who has played North Bay, Ontario at a club called Foggy Notions. - Jay Deachman, Drums Etc., September - October 1998.
Flavio Monopoli continues with punk rock vocalist/guitarist Ani Kyd. An upcoming album will have an industrial flavour, thanks to Flavio's programming, and will get an American release. In addition, Flavio recently finished tracks for country artist David Wilson, and has not forgotten his pet project, The Elusive Project X. - Jay Deachman, Drums Etc., May - June 1999. |
