Ladies and Gentlemen... Introducing "Omega Tea Time": the newest album by The Gerry Alvarez Odyssey. This 10-song collection penned by ex-Gruesomes guitarist Gerry Alvarez is inspired by 60s psychedelic music with a modern twist. It was produced over several months of collaboration between Gerry and I. Look for upcoming show dates in your area along with a new video and web site coming soon. Enjoy!

The past month has been consumed by a new recording with Opera Tenor Derrick Paul Miller. This is our second CD together and is a collection of Spiritual Arias he is often asked to perform live. It's been a fantastic experience. Thus far I've recorded vocals, piano, violin, oboe, clarinet, uilleann pipes, and harp. At left is a photograph of Myriam Reid who came to Toronto from Montreal with arranger Jungle Tshongo to lend her talents to DPM's new disc. We'll be done by the end of May with a release scheduled for mid-june. Derrick will be performing at the Halifax Tattoo once again this year. If you're out that way, you should try to see him live.

In between sessions with Derrick, I had the chance to do some live recording with The Barenaked Ladies at their rehearsal space in Toronto. We set up and recorded two songs for an upcoming television show. It was a great honour to have the opportunity to work with these guys. They are great musicians and wonderful individuals.

We just got back from an amazing show in Orlando, Florida. The 80s Hit Parade was asked to perform for a private function inside an old aircraft hangar with Canadian pop-rock icons Honeymoon Suite. We flew South where it was sunny and warm, stayed in a fantastic hotel and played an incredible venue with amazing lights, sound and staging. It was our first time working with Soundman Dustin Rehrig and Lighting Designer Fox Procenko. Both are great new assets to the team and I am happy to have them on board. Also, as a result of the Orlando show, we recently started working with US super agent Frank Kielb. He's worked with everyone, is highly respected and a great person. I look forward to a long relationship with him! Thank you very much to Pascale and everyone at Othentika. We had a great time and hope to work with you again soon.

The 80s Hit Parade is ready to make you dance your pants off. We recently shot the video component in the basement of a furniture store with the show's hosts Chris Nelson and Jayne Collins (at left). During the show, there is a multi-media component on large screens. Chris and Jayne talk 80s trivia and introduce the songs. It's funny and fast moving and a must see!

Gerry Alvarez and I recently visited mastering guru Tim Branton at Joao Carvalho Mastering. This record is amazing. It's rare to find someone you gel with in terms of musical influences. Gerry and I had a blast making his record. It will soon be time to showcase these new songs live. I'll be playing drums with The Odyssey live and hope to tour behind the album when it comes out. Look for an early spring release from Montreal based independent label Ricochet Sound.

I also had the chance to see some good friends from Newfoundland called Signal Hill. They were in Toronto performing for Loblaw during their management meetings. If ever you make it to Halifax, Nova Scotia you should check out a club called The Lower Deck. Signal Hill are the house band. Their harmonies are amazing and they rock musically.
