You might have suspected that when Flavio Monopoli shot exuberantly into this world in the middle of the Ice Capades at the Montreal Forum, he had a taste for the limelight. Once the young Flavio got his hands on a $10 drum kit he never looked back. Gear in hand he waved goodbye to Montreal, and headed off for the warmer climes of Vancouver.  The next few years he spent playing in bands like Orbit in Bloom with New Pornographer Todd Fancey, Sing Sing Dead Man and SugarCandy Mountain (whose catchy Pop recordings are still sought after by collectors and fans). With the departure of two band members, Sugar Candy Mountain evolved into the power pop trio Velour 3 who enjoyed great success and endless touring before disbanding in 1997. The continuum saw Flavio partner with Velour 3’s co-producer Brent Calkin and singer Shaye Martirano to create The Elusive Project X, Indie darlings of the late ‘90’s. Now based in Toronto, Flavio is enjoying continued success focusing mainly on production while still maintaining an active touring schedule.

His latest projects include a new CD with ex-Gruesomes guitarist Gerry Alvarez entitled Omega Tea Time, work with Canadian Tenor Derrick Paul Miller, and a new show based on the 1980s entitled The 80s Hit Parade.
